SCHIAVETTI LAMIERE FORATE FOR THE VAL SUSA POWER LINE

The initial project of the Val Susa power line dates back to the 1980s. Due to its grandeur, which would have disfigured the Piedmontese landscape, the works never started. Until, in 2007, a new proposal was born called “invisible power line”, as it envisaged 190 km of underground development (between Italy and France). The work involved over 70 companies in the electricity and energy sector, and 500 workers, coordinated by Terna.

Schiavetti Lamiere forate supplied 11,500 square meters of stainless steel, thickness 20/10, hole R10T15, which were used to make the connection ducts (called “bridges”) to contain the electrical transmission cables, where it was not possible to keep the power line underground.

The choice of material was necessary to remedy any long-term corrosion problems, given the exposure to atmospheric agents of the affected sections.

Schiavetti supplied perforated sheets in different formats, while it entrusted the company Tedesco Srl with the auxiliary processes such as cutting, notching, bending and making the fixing holes. In fact, due to its corporate philosophy, the manufacturer works in synergy with its customers for the optimal success of the projects entrusted to it.
