FOCUS ALUMINIUM

The pure aluminium is a soft and ductile metal, but its mechanical properties increase significantly when it is alloyed with other elements, generally manganese, magnesium, silicon, copper, zinc, iron. Aluminium and aluminium alloys have the following features: lightness, good mechanical strength, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, high reflective power for light and heat, good formability, resistance to atmospheric agents. For these reasons it is a material used in the mechanical, aeronautical, automotive and naval industry, on platforms and in architecture.

Schiavetti Lamiere forate only uses flat rolles products belonging to the 1000 and 5000 series for its standard production.

The 1000 series includes the type of aluminium the commercial purity of which is from 99 to 99,99%. Their properties are those typical of pure aluminium: excellent resistance to corrosion, high reflective power, excellent deformability, good weldability through the proper techniques.

The 5000 series includes the Al-Mg (aluminium/magnesium) alloys: thanks to the magnesium, their mechanical strength increases proprtionally to the content of magnesium, while machinability and plasticity decrease. Another characteristics of this series is the resistance to corrosion, even in marine envoronments.

Other alloys can be used upon request, such as: the 2000: (aluminium-copper), the 3000 (aluminum-manganese), the 4000 (aluminium-silicon), the 6000 (aluminium-magnesium-silicon), the 7000 (aluminium-zinc), the 8000 (aluminium-iron).

Rolled products with satin finish obtained by abrasion are available on request. Also prepainted aluminium rolled products are manufactured and, thanks to their corrosion resistance and outward appearance, they are very much used in the architecture industry; this type of rolled products is always supplied with a peelable plastic film  that protects the painted surface and avoids scoring or other damages during the subsequent machining. Liquid paints or powders can be used for painting.

Aluminium  can be anodized with a wide range of colours. The most popular are bronze and gold.  This procedure improves surface appearance and increases resistance to corrosion. Aluminium- magnesium alloys give very good results.
